Elements Of Motivation

This appeared earlier this year.  This is always a timeless topic.  Thought you’d like it.

What are the elements of motivation?  This video appears to have been produced for employees in the work place.  I believe this is relevant to every one of us, no matter the age or demographic.  This is about how to be the best person we can be.

Elements of Greatness:  Why be the best when you can be Great?  Potential, Vision, Belief, Desire, Courage (place your dreams above your fears), Perseverance, Execution, Passion.

We all have the ability to be Great!  What are your thoughts?

Mind Over Food…

Have you heard the concept that what we think about comes about.  You know, we create our lives by our thoughts.

More and more information has become available by way of the Internet, new books on the topic, and numerous people who have studied these concepts.  They’ve imparted this information for everyone who may choose to listen or read about it, since its so out there for the taking.

Personally, I’ve encountered and learned lots of information about these concepts.  I’ve read books on these concepts, have watched videos online and basically have been aware of the connection between what we think about and what happens to us.  The information out there is verified by the many studies done on the brain.  Much new information has been discovered in the last few years.

If you have ever heard of quantum physics, that’s part of it.  Google that phrase to learn more about that.

All of that being said, recently I was speaking with a person who has delved into these concepts within the realm of her work with clients.  One of the things she helps her clients with is food and eating.

Interestingly, she believes that there is a connection between what we eat and what we are thinking about and believe, as we eat it… For instance, you eat a bowl of ice cream and you just know it will show up on the scale and in the fit of our clothes.  O.K., maybe not from just one bowl of ice cream, but how many food choices do we make in one day, a few days, a week?  And how are our thoughts about everything we eat?  Do we think and therefore it is?

I’m intrigued and I’ve committed to work with her.  I believe the concept intellectually and know I need to truly believe it deep down for it to be a reality for me.  I’ll keep you posted.

What about you?  Any thoughts on any of this?

Curious About Mars?

Curiosity has landed on Mars.  I’m sure by now you’ve heard the news.

Fascinating times, when now we can learn what Mars is really like and if it can sustain life.  Stay tuned…

This is a short ABC News video and story from August 6, 2012 about the landing the the spacecraft named Curiosity.

Wednesday is the day we talk about the Internet, social media and technology.  I think it is because of advances scientists and others have made in these areas, that this could happen.

Let us know what your thoughts are about it.

Worry Less And Live More…

LegalShieldWorry Less and Live More.  This is the new branding for the company I’ve been with for the past nine years.  The company is over 40 years old not 60.  However, many people over 60 have great success with this company.  It’s a great company to represent and a much needed service that we offer.

This is a short promo of the three television commercials that have recently been introduced into four test markets–Charlotte, Denver, Phoenix, and San Diego.  Bill boards in Phoenix and Charlotte.  Exciting times for us.  The company has never advertised before…forty years of word of mouth.  Things were good, now we believe they will go to GREAT!

If you know of anyone who is curious about what we do and what we offer, let me know.

What Have You Learned Lately?

This is a great time to be alive.  Yes, with all that we have going on in this fast-paced world, would you agree with that?

There is so much information available to us about anything.  Google and other search engine sites can give us more information than we could possible read in a lifetime.  Don’t you just love it!

At times this can seem a bit overwhelming.  For me personally, I can get mesmerized checking out stuff online.  Facebook is one thing I don’t get into too often.  That being said, I check it every couple days.  I do have information through my email about various Friends’ posts, however.

How about you?  How do you like the availability of so much information about everything?  And what about Facebook?  How do you use it?

Recently I got a chuckle…  We were having breakfast at our local ‘Coney Island’ –(for those outside of Michigan that’s like a diner), and I overheard the server talking to a customer who must have been 80 years old.  He said something about being a bit under the weather lately.  She continued by asking him what was wrong and then I heard her ask if he had Internet?  I got distracted and didn’t catch the rest of this exchange, but it sounded like she was going to suggest that he Google his symptoms or illness…  An 80 year old, very frail-looking man!  Really!!!  I don’t think so!

Anyway, amusing how much information we all have access to.  That is if we know how to access it.

Miniature Wunderland

Are you aware of Miniature Wunderland in Hamburg, Germany?  This five minute video may fascinate you, as it did me.  It’s hard to comprehend all the work it took to create the world’s largest miniature railroad system.  Actually, more like a miniature world!  Five hundred thousand (500,000) working hours to create this amazing sight.

By the way, thanks to Tom Hill and his Friday Eaglezine that I receive each week, I thought this was worth the share.

If you are traveling to Germany, a visit here might be fun.

Bland Or Bumps?

Doesn’t it seem like some days life is so easy.  Everything seems to work in your favor.  Your internal feelings are at equilibrium.  And you actually feel an inner joy with everything working out.  Ahhh…  Life is good all around.

Then there are the other days or moments, that you just wonder ‘What’s this about?’.  How can everything be so wrong?  And usually so unexpected.

Sometimes when things are not going so well for me, at least not how I think they should be going, I forget to remember that this is a good thing.  I would like to say I always remember, but I don’t.  It usually takes a bit of wound-licking.

Really, if we don’t have the bumps in the road, how can we appreciate when things are going smoothly?  Wouldn’t it be a bit boring if we lived in a bland world?

Actually, some combination of the two is pretty good for me, as long as I have more bland (aka–joy) in my life, than bumps.

So what about you?  Would you agree that your life is composed of bland and bumps?  We’d like to know.   Also how do you deal with the bumps?

Integrity:  Adherence to moral and ethical principles; soundness of moral character; honesty.  This is according to website.

Do you live your life with integrity?  Would you say that others believe you live your life with integrity?

We certainly can’t control what anyone else thinks, so it doesn’t make sense to care about it.

Have you ever heard someone talk about themselves as though they have great integrity, and you get the distinct feeling that perhaps they don’t understand the real essence of the word.

Would you agree that one part of integrity is doing what you said you were going to do?  You know like keeping your word.  Following through.  Someone covers for you in some way and you indicate you will reciprocate in a certain time frame.  You do not.  No reason given. You just don’t.

Are you out of integrity?  I believe so.  Will this create a lack of trust in the future?  Of course.

How do you feel about the word integrity?  Does it describe you?  Do you strive to live with integrity?

The Olympics and Social Media

Twitter has caused a bit of a stir with the International Olympics Committee.  A few athletes have been sent home for tweeting some things that the IOC deemed politically incorrect.  Really politically incorrect.

Here’s a report about this.  This is by CBS News and there is a 30 second commercial.  You know, the kind of thing that allows us to view this content for free.

What a fascinating world we live in.  Four years ago, even two years ago, I’m not sure how much of a role Twitter played in people’s lives in general, but certainly the Olympics were not affected as they are this year.

What are your thoughts on athletes being eliminated because of expressing their inner most thoughts via 140 characters?

A Detroit Success

Diana Lewis has been a local network news staple since the middle 70s.  When I moved to Detroit in 1981, I watched Diana Lewis on the 11:00 news on Channel 7, our ABC station.  (Those were the days that I still watched local news.)  She was also on in the early evening.  She was the face of news broadcasting in Detroit.

A few years back Diana Lewis introduced her daughter Glenda Lewis, who got a position on Channel 7 as well.  Not to replace her Mother, Glenda had the weekend gig.  Two totally professional images of Detroit.

Recently Diana Lewis announced that she is stepping down in October.  Until I heard an interview, I didn’t know that she is 69 years old.  Wow!  What a great role-model for women.

Here is an article from the Detroit News about the announcement.

Remember the Rocky movies?  Diana Lewis appeared in the original Rocky, portraying a reporter using her own name.  Interesting.  According to the article she did some other non-news reporting things as well.

What a great success of a career Diana Lewis has had.  According to what she says, she’s only leaving the front of the camera.  She will still be active with charity work and other meaningful activities around town.
