This post was actually started as a thought about rudeness. I Googled the word rudeness and there were a variety of definitions, as you might think. I believe this word is used often in our culture to mean any one of a number of things.
For my purpose, the definition that seemed to fit here, was actually the word insensitivity.
When someone is insensitive to someone else’s feelings, their actions may come across as being rude. They are not caring (insensitive) about the other person’s feelings, perspective on a situation or the like.
Would you agree that it can be difficult to be around people who seem to be insensitive to you and your feelings? So what do you do when there are times that you are in the company of someone like this? How do you handle the situation? How do you act?
The easy answer is to say, ‘just don’t be around such people’. Well, I believe at this point in life we realize that this is not always easy to accomplish. Perhaps a close business acquaintance, a family member, or a social acquaintance is the person who is guilty of being rude to us. How do you not ever be around them?
No answers here… Perhaps you have some. Would enjoy hearing from you about it. Thanks.
