It has been said that patience is a virtue. Well, whatever it is to be known as, some situations take a lot of it!
Recently I proceeded through the various steps necessary to write Pre-Paid Legal business (my ‘day job’) in a certain state. It was a very long and laborious process and it seemed that everything that could go wrong, did go wrong.
Altogether, the process took nine weeks rather than the normal four weeks I was told to expect.
Well, you would think this would be the end of the story. Not quite. When I sat down at my computer to print out the license for which I had qualified, to allow me to conduct business, I realized there were about another four to five steps until hitting ‘print’.
Finally, I hit ‘print’. At that point I could not determine where on my computer it had printed. It certainly wasn’t coming out of my printer. Ahh!!! My Mac wouldn’t allow it to come through.
The rest of the story is that fortunately there was a wonderful tech at the other end of a six minute wait on hold, who empathized with my challenge and volunteered to email me what I needed. While he was still on the phone… FINALLY… I got it!!!
So, here is the personal development aspect of all of this… What do you do and how do you act when stuff like this happens in your life? I actually only had one meltdown during the nine weeks and then during the technical challenge part, just a mini-meltdown. I felt I was successful in plodding through the process and not letting it overtake me.
What are your stories with needing patience for life’s challenges?
